This is an excerpt from a documentary about the history and legacy of HBCUs, seen through the lens of photography, archives, and memory. Through interviews with Jackson State University archivists, the university president, students, and teachers, the film explores how these images carry the stories of a community across generations. I wanted the piece to feel like a rich cultural tapestry: a reminder that preserving these photographs is also a way of preserving the people, institutions, and lived histories that continue to shape the story.
